ANNOUNCEMENT NO. 1

Guys:

Greetings!

This is the class home page for AAS 499. Please check it on a regular basis. The first film I am assigning you to see is Far From Heaven--directed by Todd Haynes. As you view the film analyze it from all its social structural dimensions (class, race, gender, etc.). Please see the film twice. Date for discussion: week of February 4th (next week).

NOTE: I hope you can stream it from somewhere on the internet, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Yahoo, etc. If you have to pay to stream it, I will reimburse you the cost of the film--so no excuses! I must see you guys (either together or individually--depending on what works for you) sometime next week, preferably during my office hours. I will quiz you on both the content and the principal social issues the film raises.
