Requesting Mentorship/Advisership
From time to time I get requests to serve as a mentor or to serve as an adviser on an undergraduate project or a graduate thesis/dissertation committee. In order to give your request a careful consideration, you must submit the following materials:
  1. A brief description of the project or topic of thesis/dissertation.
  2. A brief description of the academic rationale for approaching me to be your mentor/adviser.
  3. Two recent term papers in which you received 'A' grades. The term papers must be from courses taken with different instructors.
  4. One recommendation from a teacher who knows your work well attesting to, at the minimum, three things: your ability to write; your knowledgeability; and your assiduousness.
  5. A copy of your AAR (academic advisement report) available through your HUB page.
NOTE: (a) With rare exception, I do not accept a request if your project is already underway. (b) If any one of the above items does not accompany your request then my advice is to go elsewhere.
