Course Description

This course focuses on how law and legal decisions impact African Americans. Public policy issues such as human rights, civil rights, voting rights and health will be explored. How the law and the legislative/ political process can be effectively used to advocate unprecedented historical changes in public policy, social policy, and economic policy for African Americans will be highlighted.

Understanding conflicts inherent to the issues of race, class and gender and the unbiased application of the law is explored through landmark constitutional law decisions rendered by the United States Supreme Court.
